It was revealed during his conversation with UFC legend Daniel Cormier on ESPN that the WrestleMania headliner explained the real reason for his retirement in 2025. Starting from next year, Cena will not be seen in WWE. He will surely be part of the WWE family, but his wrestling days will be over.
Cena felt saying goodbye this year would be a perfect thing to do, as time went by, his competitiveness would take a step down. In his 20s, he promised that once he feels to hang up his boots, he would surely do that without pushing himself way too much. This is what makes the great, the greatest, as they know when it is a better time to call it quits.

“…me being honest with my record basically led me to be like ‘I got to retire.’ The reason I hadn’t had a lot of success in the WWE is because I’m a part-time participant … I also made a cemented promise, even in my 20s to the audience, ‘When I am a step slow, I am out the door.’ Like understand when your run is over and just bow out gracefully. I feel that I’m a step slow. I’m there.”
All the WWE fans will remember his rivalry and fights with Randy Orton and CM Punk. The most epic match in the Royal Rumble, where CM Punk and his gang, called The Straight Edge Society, were teaming up and eliminating opponents. Cena single-handedly eliminated the majority of his team.
His illustrious career of more than 20 years will make him one of the greatest and loved wrestlers in WWE. Every athlete and fan knows that this day would surely arrive.
