The last edition of the Asia Cup happened in 2023. Eventually, it was a 50-over competition with six teams playing, divided into two groups. India, Bangladesh, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka were the teams that qualified for the Super-fours. India topped the Super-fours table with 2 wins in three matches, and Sri Lanka finished second with the same finals. Both teams were in the finals. Asia Cup 2025 Format Explained: How Super Four Stage Works and Who Qualifies
When we look at the number of teams in the last edition, there were six teams. For this edition, eight teams will play the Asia Cup 2025 in the United Arab Emirates. India, Pakistan, Oman, and the United Arab Emirates are in Group A, whereas Hong Kong, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, and Sri Lanka are in Group B.
All teams will play one match against each team in their group. The matches for the Group stage start on the 9th of September, where Hong Kong plays against Afghanistan, which is also the first match of the Asia Cup 2025. There are two venues for all the matches of the Asia Cup 2025. One is the Dubai International Cricket Stadium in Dubai, whereas the other is the Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium in Abu Dhabi
The top two teams in each group will qualify for the Super-Fours. Now again, all four teams in the Super-Fours play one match each against the three other teams. The first match of the Super Fours will be on 20th September between the winners of Group B and the runners-up of Group B.
Eventually, the Dubai International Cricket Stadium in Dubai will be the venue for this match. The top two teams after all the Super-Fours are completed get a place in the final of the Asia Cup 2025. Again, the Dubai International Cricket Stadium will be the venue for the final, which is on 28th September.
