This competition allows players from every country except Pakistan to participate and pays them a decent amount. In his edition, he also saw players getting sold for the most expensive amount ever compared to all of the previous editions. The three most expensive players this year were Rishabh Pant (27 crore – Lucknow Super Giants), Shreyas Iyer (26.75 crore – Punjab Kings), and Venkatesh Iyer (23.75 crore – Kolkata Knight Riders).

The IPL’s overall valuation has surged to USD 18.5 billion in 2025
Certainly, the IPL’s overall valuation has reached a whopping USD 18.5 billion this year, that is, 2025. If we convert this amount to INR, it’s somewhere more than Rs 1,55,00 crores. It has gone up by more than 12.5% when we compare it to the last edition of the Indian Premier League.
The Indian Premier League is not just a domestic league but also a brand now. There are a lot of reasons apart from cricket that make the league generate revenue. One of them is surely the sponsors. IPL not only attracts sponsorship from Indian brands but also from every part of the world. The other reason for generating revenue is selling the broadcasting rights, as the amount generated increases with more viewership. All of this is managed by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI)
When we talk about the sole brand value of IPL in 2024, it was somewhere around US$3.4 billion. While this season it has moved to US$3.9 billion. We have seen a rise of more than 13.5% in the value for the same.
Which is the most valuable franchise of the IPL for the first time?
The year 2025 is special for Royal Challengers Bengaluru for two reasons. First one is surely the wait for Virat Kohli and Royal Challengers Bengaluru winning an IPL trophy is over. The second one has to be Royal Challengers Bengaluru, becoming the most valuable franchise of the IPL for the first time.
Before them, Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s Chennai Super Kings were on top, but after a bad season, probably their worst, Royal Challengers Bengaluru claimed that spot. Chennai Super Kings are currently in the third spot. As per the reports of Investment bank Houlihan Lokey, Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s current brand value is somewhere near US$269 million. If we convert this amount, it is almost Rs 22,000 crores.
