We have seen another upset in the FA Cup 2025/2026 as the Championship side Wrexham won against the Premier League side Nottingham Forest and booked their place in the fourth round of this edition’s FA Cup. Basically, Stok Cae Ras, which is the home of Wrexham, was the venue for the match. Surely, the home team did not disappoint the fans.
Wrexham are currenly on the tenth position in the Championship table. They have played a total of 26 matches. In those matches, they have ten wins, ten draws, and have lost a total of six matches. When we look at the record of Nottingham Forest, things are surely a bit worrying for them as they are in 17th place in the Premier League table. They are also playing the UEFA Europa League, and they are doing decently well.

FA Cup 2025/2026: Wrexham beat Nottingham Forest on penalties
Wrexham knew that they would get fewer chances in the match and needed to be very clinical with the chances they got. The first goal came in the 34th minute as Liberato Cacace, the left wing back, scored the goal. Just six minutes later, Oliver Rathbone scored the second goal for Wrexham, and the fans were in shock. At the end of the first half, the scoreline was 2-0, and it seemed an easy win for Wrexham.
Nottingham Forest had to score the next goal in the match if they wanted to stay alive. In the 64th minute, Igor Jesus scored for Nottingham Forest. Dominic Hyam made it 3-1 in the 74th minute. Just two minutes later, Callum Hudson-Odoi, who had just come on a few minutes ago, scored the goal for Nottingham Forest. He again scored in the 89th minute of the match and made it 3-3. The match went into extra time as Wrexham could manage to keep their lead.
In both of the extra time halves, Nottingham Forest were just attacking as Wrexham held their defence together. At the end, it all came down to the penalties. Both teams scored their first penalty and missed their second. Omari Hutchinson became the villain for the fans as he missed the fifth penalty for Nottingham Forest, as they had to score, taking the match into sudden death.
