The ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 will start on 30th September, where India Women will play Sri Lanka Women in the first match. 2nd November is the date for the final. This is the 13th edition of the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup. India and Sri Lanka are the host countries. In the previous 12 editions, we have seen only three winning it; the question is, will the Women’s World Cup 2025 see a New Winner?

Basically, the last edition of the ICC Women’s World Cup happened in 2022, and New Zealand was the host. Australia Women won the 2022 ICC Women’s World Cup as they defeated England Women in the final by 71 runs. Batting first, Australia Women scored 356/5 in their 50 overs. England Women were bowled out for 285 runs. Alyssa Healy was the Player of the Match for playing a knock of 170 in the final, and she was also the Player of the Tournament.
12 Editions, 3 Champions: Will Women’s World Cup 2025 See a New Winner?
So far, we have seen a total of 12 editions of the ICC Women’s World Cup, with the first happening in 1973. Australian women have enjoyed a proper dominance in lifting the World Cup trophy in both men’s and women’s cricket. Australia Women have won seven Women’s World Cups (1978, 1982, 1988, 1997, 2005, 2013, and 2022). Second to them are the England Women’s team with four Women’s World Cup titles (1973, 1993, 2009, and 2017). Lastly, New Zealand Women have only won one Women’s World Cup, which came in 2000.
India Women’s team is surely one of the favourites going into the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025. First, they will play at home and are better aware of the conditions. They have a well-balanced team with youth and experience. Harmanpreet Kaur, who will captain India, will play in her 5th World Cup and probably last. India would want to give her a farewell by winning the Women’s World Cup for the first time. She has been a legend to the Indian Women’s Cricket team. The Australian Women’s team will be the toughest challenge for the Indian team in this Women’s World Cup. India Women will play Australia Women on 12th October at the ACA–VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam in a group stage match.
