UEFA Champions League 2025/2026 Points table and standing rules – What are the new Rules explained?

The best club competition in Europe is here as the UEFA Champions League is back. Basically, the main competition will start from the 16th of September 2025, whereas the Final will be on 30th May 2026 at the Puskas Arena in Budapest, Hungary. The UEFA Champions League 2025/2026 Points table will determine which teams skip one extra match in the competition.

There will be a total of 36 teams that will compete in the UEFA Champions League 2025/2026 League Phase. Surely, a lot of teams got their place through the play-offs. Kairat Almaty won on penalties against Celtic to get their first qualification in the UEFA Champions League. Basically, Copenhagen, Qarabag, Club Brugge, Pafos, Bodo/Glimt, and Benfica are other teams that got a place through the Playoffs.

Certainly, all 36 teams will play a total of eight matches in the UEFA Champions League 2025/2026 League Phase. Four matches will be at home, and four matches will be away from home. This will allow teams to get a fair advantage in playing home and away. Basically, three points are given for a win and one point for a draw. There are zero points for a loss.

Eventually, the top eight teams will get an automatic place in the round of 16 stage, whereas the teams from 9th to 24th position will compete in a two-leg knock-out playoff match. The teams from 25th to 36th position will be eliminated. If there is a tie in points among the teams, then the team with the higher goal difference will go ahead in the table.
