Each and every day, something or the other happens in Indian football, and management is solely responsible for it. With the Indian Super League again failing to get a sponsor, the league is kept on hold. The players and fans are surely not happy about it, and why would they be? Sunil Chetri requests that the All India Football Federation (AIFF) to start the Indian Super League.
There were issues between the All India Football Federation (AIFF) and Football Sports Development Limited (FSDL) as they couldn’t agree on the contract of the Indian Super League. This is the reason the league was put on hold. Basically, the Master Rights Agreement between the All India Football Federation (AIFF) and Football Sports Development Limited (FSDL) ended in December 2025.
“To put it simply, we want to play and now” Sunil Chetri requests that AIFF start the Indian Super League
Sunil Chetri, the player who has given everything to Indian football and the current captain of Bengaluru FC, takes to his social media to request the management to begin the Indian Super League as soon as possible. He, on behalf of every player, speaks up, as they just want to play professional football. It surely feels like an embarrassment that the captain of the national team has to request the federation for the league.

The players are suffering, and so is the management. With the league on hold, there are thousands of jobs that are on stake. Clubs such as Mohun Bagan, which are one of the biggest and oldest clubs of Indian football, have held up their operations. All of this has to go to the federation and the people who are running the federation.
Basically, each player and fan has the right to feel angry and frustrated. They have given everything to the football club, and our country does not have a broadcaster. This also sums up the state of what Indian football is in. The AIFF needs to find a solution and start the Indian Super League as soon as possible. With this situation of football in question, why would any young player choose to play football?
