Sevilla were already set to host FC Barcelona at the Estadio Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan in the La Liga matchday 8. Barcelona were missing a few of their key players for this match as Yamal, Garcia, Raphinha, and Fermin were all missing. Eventually, Sevilla humiliates Barcelona 4-1 in La Liga.
There have been a lot of questions about the tactics used by FC Barcelona’s coach, Hansi Flick. The high line is being exposed by all teams now. At the same time, the players have no answer on the pitch. This was FC Barcelona’s second defeat in a row. First, they lost to Paris Saint-Germain in the UEFA Champions League, and now to Sevilla in La Liga. They have also gifted the top spot to Real Madrid after this defeat.
Is Hansi Flick out of tactics?| Sevilla humiliates Barcelona 4-1 in La Liga clash
Sevilla scored the first goal in the match after Araujo committed a foul on Romero. The former Barcelona player, Alexis Sanchez, scored from the penalty spot. Eventually, the player who won the first penalty scored the second goal in the match. Ruben Vargas assisted Issac Romero, and he scored the goal. Just before the first half ended, Pedri put the ball into the box, and Marcus Rashford scored from a volley. The first half ended 2-1 to Sevilla.
After getting a goal in the first half, everyone thought Barcelona would come back in the second half, but the story was different. Barcelona got a penalty after Januzaj committed a foul on Balde. Lewandowski missed the penalty, and after that, it felt like Barcelona just lost the match there itself. Sevilla scored two late goals, one from Carmona in the 90th minute and the other by Adams in the 90+6 minute. Eventually, Sevilla won the match 4-1.
It was after 10 years that Sevilla defeated Barcelona. This win will surely boost the confidence of the Sevilla players. Hansi Flick needs to work on the high line tactics as they will face Real Madrid on 26th October. The form in which Kylian Mbappe and Vinicius Jr. are in will be more humiliating as they can easily break the defences.
