The nation is still in favour of banning Pakistan from sports and other activities. Basically, India imposed a ban on playing against Pakistan in any events after the Pahalgam attack. However, the Asia Cup 2025 fixtures are out, and it looks like India will be playing against Pakistan.
This has created a major debt in the nation, with politicians claiming it was a wrong decision by the BCCI. Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray has questioned the government and BCCI for giving permission to play against Pakistan after the ban.
The politician feels that the government and BCCI are putting money over the nation’s emotions and morals. In addition, they want India to boycott the match of such a major tournament.
Meanwhile, there are rumours that Uddhav’s camp may lead protests or take legal action in this case. However, there is no response from the BCCI on the matter, addressing the political and sports problem.
The government, however, has addressed the situation, clarifying that India will not be playing any bilateral cricket with Pakistan. However, as the Asia Cup and World Cup fall under international commitments, the team must play in such tournaments.
The rivalry is beyond the pitch; it is about a nation’s pride and the government’s commitment internationally.
