Pakistan was facing India in the Asia Cup 2025 final, which happened in the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on 28th September. Eventually, after a not-so-great start, Tilak Varma was the hero as he played a mature innings with vital contributions from Sanju Samson and Shivam Dube. Stick to Sports’: Kapil Dev’s Strong Message Amid IND vs PAK Asia Cup Controversy
The former legend, Kapil Dev, said to the media that it is their responsibility to stick to sports rather than bring up other controversial things. He also claimed that the media is responsible for bringing every news to the fans for whatever happens in the matches on and off the field. Kapil Dev also said it would be great if the media just focused more on sports.
I just want to say, your responsibility, and the responsibility for the entire media also, is that we should look into the sports side rather than looking into the politics side. Yes, media has the responsibility to bring everything on the table, but as a sportsman, I would like to see that we should stick to sports. It will be much better
Kapil Dev also spoke about the Pakistan Cricket team. Comparing them to the team that Pakistan had 20-30 years ago is not the same. Surely that is true, as when the bowling line-up of Pakistan was bowling, the opponents had fear in their eyes. They have also produced a lot of legends in the game of cricket.
Yeah, I think they don’t have the similar talent they used to have in the ’80s, ’90s, or before that. Pakistan has given us, to the world, one of the best cricketers. You can talk about Imran Khan, you can talk about Javed Miandad, Zaheer Abbas, Wasim Akram, and Waqar Younis. They have given us that talent. But unfortunately, we can’t see similar talent today, not even one per cent of what they used to have
When you look at this Pakistan team, they don’t come to compete on the field when it comes to playing against the big teams. They got thrashed by the Indian Cricket Team three times in the Asia Cup 2025: once in the group stage, once in the super-fours, and once in the Asia Cup 2025 finals.
