After suffering an injury to his foot during India’s tour of England in July, Rishabh Pant did not play the last test match. The series eventually ended in a 2-2 draw as India won the fifth test match by six runs. Basically, the Indian selectors have revealed the whole test squad for the Indian team to play against South Africa. Rishabh Pant returns to the Indian Test squad as a vice-captain.

India will play a two-match test series against the South Africa team, which will start from 14th November. The Eden Gardens in Kolkata is the venue for the first test match. 14th November to 18th November are the dates. Eventually, the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati is the venue for the second test match. 22nd November to 26th November are the dates.

One thing is for sure: what Rishabh Pant brings to the table is something no one else can do. It is surely great news for all the Indian fans that he is fit and back to play for the Indian team. Rishabh Pant is now also the vice-captain of the Indian team, as Shubhman Gill will be the captain after Rohit Sharma announced his retirement.

India’s Full test squad:
  • Batsmen: Shubman Gill (C), Yashasvi Jaiswal, KL Rahul, Sai Sudharsan, and Devdutt Padikkal
  • Wicketkeepers: Rishabh Pant (VC) and Dhruv Jurel
  • All-rounders: Ravindra Jadeja, Washington Sundar, Axar Patel, and Nitish Kumar Reddy
  • Bowlers: Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, Kuldeep Yadav, and Akash Deep

N Jagadeesan was the player who was called to replace the injured Rishabh Pant in the final test against England. He is now not in the team as Rishabh is back and fully fit. Akash Deep keeps his place after he had a great series in England. He picked up 13 wickets in the three matches that he played against England.

The Indian team looked well-balanced as Gill has a lot of spinners to choose from. His batting department has experience with KL Rahul being in there. Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj will be the main pacers. Kuldeep Yadav tends to get playing time in this series. Shubman Gill and Yashasvi Jaiswal will continue to be the opening partners for the Indian team.
