With Shubman Gill being the vice-captain, is the pressure on Suryakumar Yadav to score more runs? This might be a question that will be on the minds of many fans. The Asia Cup 2025 starts on the 9th of September, whereas the final is on the 28th of September. Basically, the United Arab Emirates will be the host for the Asia Cup 2025.

In the last edition of the Asia Cup, which happened in 2023 in Sri Lanka, the Indian team were the winners. It is now time for the young generation to continue shining as a few of the greats, Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Ravindra Jadeja won’t be seen in the Indian jersey as they have said goodbye to the T20 format last year after the T20 World Cup.

With Shubman Gill being the vice-captain, is the pressure on Suryakumar Yadav to score more runs?

Having a great test series with England, and also captaining the team, there are big chances of the selectors looking at Shubman Gill as the future leader in all formats. As of now, India has three different captains. Rohit Sharma is the captain of the ODI format, Shubman Gill is the newly elected Test Captain, and Suryakumar Yadav is the T20 format captain. We can also see Suryakumar Yadav captaining India for the last time in the Asia Cup 2025.

Surely after getting the captaincy of the Indian team in the T20 format, Suryakumar Yadav’s runs have seen a low. Suryakumar Yadav has so far captained India in 22 matches. Although he has scored four fifties and one century, his total is just around 550 runs. The average is also around 26, which is surely up to his standards. When you look at his batting record without the captain’s armband, he had an average of more than 43. Yadav scored more than 2000 runs in 61 matches. He also scored 17 fifties and three big centuries.

There will be a lot of pressure on Suryakumar Yadav, not just for the captaincy but to get runs. The last five innings have surely not been that great for him, as the total of the innings hardly reaches a hundred runs. India faces the host UAE, Pakistan, and then Oman in the group stages of the Asia Cup 2025.
