2024 was the year when we saw the first season of the Delhi Premier League, and the competition was a hit. Delhi Premier League 2025 will be the second edition, as it starts on the 2nd of August. There will be a total of forty-four T20 matches in this edition of the Delhi Premier League. The last and final match is on the 31st of August. Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi will host all the matches. What is the Delhi Premier League DPL 2025 Prize Money?

Last season, there were a total of six teams in the Delhi Premier League. Now we have welcomed two new teams, which are the New Delhi Tigers and Outer Delhi Warriors. The other six teams are the same as the previous edition. West Delhi Lions, Purani Delhi 6, East Delhi Riders, South Delhi Superstarz, North Delhi Strikers, and Central Delhi Kings are the other teams. We will also see some of the players who have played in the Indian Premier League in this competition. Nitish Rana, Ishant Sharma, Anuj Rawat, Yash Dhull, Harshit Rana, and Digvesh Singh Rathi are a few players.

Purani Delhi 6, East Delhi Riders, South Delhi Superstarz, and North Delhi Strikers were the teams to finish in the top four of the first edition of the Delhi Premier League. East Delhi Riders won the Delhi Premier League 2024 by defeating South Delhi Superstarz in the final by just three runs.

Delhi Premier League DPL 2025 Prize Money

With two new teams coming, surely they have contributed to the annual fees, too. This is the season where DDCA can generate more revenue, as there is an increase in teams, which means more matches, more viewership, and more sponsorship.

The inaugural edition of DPL was a success but the DDCA could not save much – the profit from DPL 2024 is estimated to be around Rs 5-6 crore (the balance sheet is yet to come). But this time they are ensuring better returns and that is good for the health of Delhi cricket.

A total of Rs 45 crores will be spent to make the second edition of the Delhi Premier League. More than half of the amount, which is Rs 28 crores, will be paid to the event management company, which will manage the whole tournament. The total prize money will be five crore, which has increased by Rs 75 lakhs from the previous year. Basically, the other amount will be used in managing the other expenses.

The DDCA is keeping a cap on the expenditure to the tune of Rs 45 crore. This includes an amount of Rs 28 crore earmarked for the event management company to run the tournament, Rs 5 crore in prize money – which will be an increase from Rs 4.25 crore given out last year and Rs 12 crore in other expenditure including catering. This will lead to a profit of around Rs 40 crore

What is the format of the Delhi Premier League 2025?

All the teams will play a total of ten matches in the competition in the league phase. Once the ten matches are over, the best four teams in the competition qualify for the knock-outs. In the knock-out, we will see four matches, two of which will be the qualifier, whereas one is the eliminator and one is the big final. The format is the same as the format of the Indian Premier League.

29th August is the date for the Qualifier 1 (2 PM) and Eliminator (7 PM). The next day will be Qualifier 2 as the date is 30th August. Basically, the timing is 7 PM. Lastly, the timing for the final is 7 PM and the date is 31st August.
