The Bangladesh openers, Saif Hassan and Tanzid Hasan, gave a great start to the team. They added 59 runs in the first six overs. Afghanistan got the first wicket in the 7th over as the captain, Rashid Khan, got the wicket of Saif Hassan.
Tanzid Hasan scored 52 runs in 31 balls before Noor Ahmad got his wicket. Later, there were small cameos from the other Bangladesh batters as the team scored 154/5 in their 20 overs. Rashid Khan and Noor Ahmad got 2 wickets each.
Chasing a target of 155 required a great start, but Nasum Ahmed dismissed Sediqullah Atal for a golden duck. The first over was a maiden over. Rahmanullah Gurbaz scored a hard-fought 35 runs in 31 balls, and Azmatullah Omarzai scored 30 runs in 16 balls. Apart from them, no other batter was convincing.
Noor Ahmad struck two late sixes, but it wasn’t enough. Afghanistan could only score 146 runs and lost all of their wickets. Mustafizur Rahman took three wickets in the match, whereas Taskin Ahmed, Nasum Ahmed, and Rishad Hossain got two wickets each.
Nasum Ahmed was given the Man of the Match award for his brilliant economical bowling. He gave just 18 runs in his four overs and had a wicket maiden first over. Now the doors for the Super-Fours qualification are open for Bangladesh. They would just want Afghanistan to lose the next match to Sri Lanka.
