Along with the announcement of the ODI squad for the three-match series against India, Australia also announced the T20 squad for the first two matches vs India. There are not many chances from the ODI squad, as Mitchell Starc misses out as he no longer plays the T20 format for the Australian team. Mitchell Marsh will lead the team.
The final ODI is on 25th October, whereas the T20 series starts from 29th October in Canberra. Basically, the second T20 is on 31st October in Melbourne, whereas the third T20 is on 2nd November in Hobart. The fourth and fifth T20s are on 6th November and 8th November respectively. Gold Coast and Brisbane are the venues for the last two T20Is.

The lead will be led by the skipper, Mitchell Marsh, for the five-match T20 series against India. Matthew Kuhnemann, who was not named in the ODI squad for the India series, gets his name in the first two matches for the T20 series. Marcus Stoinis was also not in the ODI series, but will be playing the T20 series. Matthew Renshaw missed out on the first two matches of the T20 series. This is just the squad for the first two matches said Bailey.
We have named a squad for the ODI series and first two games of the T20 series as there will be some management through the back end of the series as individuals prepare for the summer through Sheffield Shield cricket.
The majority of the T20 squad will remain together as it’s an important period in the build towards the World Cup next year, however we are trying to strike a balance to ensure we simultaneously prepare certain individuals for the Test series ahead.
The team won’t change that much that has been named for the first two matches. They are obviously looking for their perfect team for the ICC T20 World Cup, which will happen in 2026 in India. The Australian team is looking at their core and also giving chances to the youngsters.

Australian T20 squad for the first two matches:
- Batsmen: Travis Head, Tim David, and Matthew Short
- Wicketkeepers: Josh Inglis
- All-rounders: Mitchell Marsh (C), Marcus Stoinis, and Mitchell Owen
- Bowlers: Sean Abbott, Xavier Bartlett, Ben Dwarshuis, Nathan Ellis, Josh Hazlewood, Matthew Kuhnemann, and Adam Zampa
In the last two months, the Australian team has played two T20 series. One against South Africa and the other against New Zealand. Both of them were away from home. They won 2-1 against South Africa and 2-0 against New Zealand. Tim David was the Player of the Series in the South Africa series, whereas Mitchell Marsh was the Player of the Series against New Zealand.
