The BCCI secretary, Devajit Saikia, was questioned about Virat Kohli’s comeback in test cricket. He said these are just rumours and we should not give them any weight. Devajit Saikia also said that there are no conversations happening with Virat Kohli at this moment. He also spoke about whether there is a conversation with the player, don’t spread the rumours, as it is unnecessary.
Eventually, the former English cricketer, Kevin Peterson, also shared his views on the same. He said if the rumours are half-true, then the BCCI should seriously consider Virat Kohli as well as Rohit Sharma to bring them back to the Indian team. Peterson also said, and we quote, “The survival of Test cricket is a hot topic of conversation, and if the biggest stars in the game want to play it again, they must play“.
Virat Kohli might not have 10,000 test runs as the other great batters in the format. At the same time, the things that he has done are just impossible to replicate. He has scored more than 9200 runs and scored 30 test centuries. Virat was the captain who made India the best team in test cricket.
