With the matches of Matchday five getting over in the UEFA Champions League 2025/2026 edition, the question is, who makes the UEFA Champions League Team of the Week for Matchday 5? We have seen a lot of great individual performances as well as team performances this week. It is surely very tough just to choose the top eleven best performers on matchday five.
Arsenal kept their winning streak in the Champions League, and they are now the only team to keep a 100% win record in the Champions League this edition so far. They defeated Bayern 3-1. Chelsea humiliated Barcelona 3-0 at Stamford Bridge. Liverpool got another defeat, and it was PSV. Kyliab Mbappe scored four goals, whereas his former teammate Vitinha scored a hat-trick.

Who makes the UEFA Champions League Team of the Week for Matchday 5?
Finally, after two days full of interesting matches, UEFA has announced the Champions League Team of the Week for Matchday 5. The second day of matchday five was a goal feast, with more than 40 goals scored that night. Let us look at the team, and it is made in a 4-4-2 formation:
Goalkeeper: Flekken
It is the 32-year-old Dutch goalkeeper Mark Flekken, who plays for Bayer Leverkusen, who gets a place between the sticks. His team was facing Manchester City, and he pulled off a total of nine saves in that match and also kept a clean sheet. Eventually, Bayer Leverkusen won the match by 2-0, and it was a horror show for the English team, Manchester City.
Defenders: Cucurella, Schouten, Gimenez, and Khalailli
The left-back position goes to Marc Cucurella, and what a performance he had against Barcelona. He came up against one of the current best players in the world, Lamine Yamal, and he kept him quick for the whole match. Cucurella is the contender to be the best full-back in the world right now. The right-back position goes to Union SG’s Anan Khalailli. He had a magnificent game against Galatasaray as he had the most tackles in the game and was the star of the show.
Jerdy Schouten from PSV and Jose Gimenez from Atletico Madrid are the centre-backs. Gimenez spoiled the party for the Inter team as he scored in the dying minutes of the game and got a win for his team. Jerdy Schouten, the captain of PSV, played like a captain. He stopped Liverpool’s lethal attack.
Midfielders: Robert, Vitihna, Rice, and De Ketelare
Let us just say and not argue that Vitinha is the best midfielder in the world right now. He scored a hat-trick against Spurs, and his first two goals were a banger. Vitihna controlled the midfield and got his hat-trick by scoring a penalty. Robert, the Kobenhavn winger, also performed very well as he scored a goal for his team and also had the most dribbles in their game against Kairat Almaty.
It was the Champions League game, and a lot of stars were playing, and Declan Rice outclassed them all. He destroyed Bayern’s attack and never helped them feel comfortable on the ball. It was Real Madrid last season, and Bayern this season. Rice balled in both matches. Atalanta’s De Ketelare was magical in the game against Frankfurt. He scored a goal and also had an assist in the match.
Forwards: Mbappe and Aubameyang
We all need to agree that Kylian Mbappe is the most complete forward in the world right now. He scored four goals against Olympiacos and became the second and only player, after Ronaldo, to score four goals in the UCL for Real Madrid. Mbappe also scored the second-fastest hat-trick in the Champions League.
Aubameyang is 36 and still does not want to stop competing against the big teams. His team was 1-0 down at half-time against Newcastle United. The score was 2-1 after just 5 minutes into the second half, and Aubameyang scored both goals. Eventually, his team won 2-1.
