No former player could resist sending their best wishes to the Indian Women’s team after they defeated the South African Women’s team in the final by 52 runs at DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai. It was Virat Kohli, Yusuf Pathan, and Yuvraj Singh who congratulated the India Women’s team on the World Cup 2025 victory. 2nd of November 2025 will be a date to remember as the India Women’s cricket team will just see a rise from here.
There were many former players who attended the DY Patil Stadium to witness the iconic final. First, Sachin Tendulkar gave their best wishes to the players in person. Later, Rohit Sharma and VVS Laxman were also spotted in the stands cheering their Women’s team. Nita Ambani and Akash Ambani were also seen in the stands. It was the International Cricket Council’s Chairman, Jay Shah, who was also present in the stands. He handed the trophy to the Indian Women’s team captain, Harmanpreet Kaur.

It was Virat Kohli who was the first one to post on his social media account to send his best wishes to the Indian Women’s team. He spoke about how this win will inspire new generations. Virat applauded the fearless cricket the Indian Women’s team played throughout the competition. He has also won the World Cup, Champions Trophy, and T20 World Cup for India.
Yuvraj Singh, the Man of the Tournament for India in the ICC World Cup 2011, also shared an emotional message to the team. He individually tagged a lot of players for their performances in the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025. Yuvraj Singh mentioned Shafali Varma, Harmanpreet Kaur, Smriti Madhana, Deepti Sharma, and Richa Gosh. He lastly mentioned and sent congratulations to the coach of the Indian Women’s team, Amol Mazumdar.
Yusuf Pathan, a former all-rounder who won the T20 World Cup and the 50-over World Cup with India, also tweeted. It was hard work for the players, and the entire country is proud of the Women’s team, who won their first World Cup.
