Mumbai’s 41 Championship Titles

There is no team near the Mumbai team when it comes to winning the Ranji Trophy. Surely, in the next 30-40 years, the team will require pure dominance to break this record. They have a total of 41 Ranji Trophy titles, and the team second to them are Karnataka, who have just eight titles. Mumbai has a record of winning back-to-back 15 Ranji Trophy titles from the 1958-59 season to the 1972-73 season. The last time they won was in 2024 under Ajinkya Rahane’s captaincy.

Bhausaheb Babasaheb Nimbalkar’s Highest Individual Score of 443*

It was a game between Kathiawar, now Saurashtra, and Maharashtra in Pune in the 1948-1949 edition of the Ranji Trophy. Kathiawar scored 238/10 in the first innings. Maharashtra scored 826/4, which included a double century from Kamal Bhanddaekar. Bhausaheb Babasaheb Nimbalkar was the hero as he scored 443* runs, which included 43 boundaries and a six. This record is not broken to date.

Hyderabad’s Record Team Total of 944/6d

It was a match between Andhra Pradesh and Hyderabad in the 1994-1995 Ranji Trophy season when Hyderabad scored 944/6 in their first innings. Maturi Sridhar scored 366 runs, whereas Vivek Jaisimha and Noel David scored double hundreds. Eventually, that match ended in a draw, and this score has not been broken by any team in the last 30 years.

Premangsu Chatterjee’s 10 Wickets for 20 Runs

It was a Ranji Trophy match that was played in  Jorhat in the 1957-1958 edition, when Premangsu Chatterjee. He just gave away 20 runs and took all 10 wickets of the Assam team in their first innings. This is surely one of the records that will be hard for the players to break in the future.

 Rajinder Goel’s 637 Career Wickets

Basically, Rajinder Goel, who played for almost 27 years in the Ranji Trophy, holds the record for the most wickets in the competition with 637 wickets. He just played 123 matches, and one thing to remind you is that Rajinder Goel has never played for the Indian Cricket team. He has featured for teams such as Delhi and Haryana in the Ranji Trophy.
