After the announcement of the WPL starting early next year, there has been a new announcement of the Mumbai Indians changing their coach. The former Australian batter Lisa Keightley replaces Charlotte Edwards as Mumbai Indians Women’s Coach.
Basically, Charlotte Edwards left the coaching position of the Mumbai Indians. She left the position after leading the team for three years to coach the women’s England team. MI was without a coach for some time and now has officially appointed Keightley.
She aims to bring fresh energy and excellence to the team. Keightly said she looks forward to working with the talented group to build on the success, keep inspiring on and off the field, and maintain the set benchmark of MI in the WPL.
Lisa Keightly was a star player of Australia, showcasing great talent. She has played for Australia in all formats. In addition, her international career started in 1995 till 2005. After that, she coached for her home team, eventually becoming the first women’s coach of the Australian women’s team.
This experience of hers has been a great help in her role as a coach. She has coached many major teams like England women, Australia Women, Delhi Capitals in WPL, Sydney Thunder, and the very recent Northern Women Chargers in the women’s Hundred.
