Hong Kong lost an early wicket of Anshuman Rath in the second over, whereas they lost their star batter Hayat in the fifth over. It was Zeeshan Ali and Nizakat Khan who were batting with patience, but Zeeshan got out on 30 runs. Nizakat Khan scored 42 runs before he got out. The captain, Yasim Murtaza, scored 28 runs in 19 balls, which helped the team reach 143/7 in 20 overs. Tanzim Hasan Sakib, Taskin Ahmed, and Rishad Hossain all got two wickets.
Parvez Hossain Emon and Tanzid Hasan Tamim couldn’t give Bangladesh a good start as Parvez Hossain Emon got out in the third over. It was basically Litton Das and Towhid Hridoy’s partnership that took away the game from Hong Kong.
They added 95 runs for the third wicket. It was the fourth-highest partnership by the batters for 3rd wicket or below in the T20 Asia Cup. Bangladesh won the match by seven wickets with 14 balls remaining.
Liton Das was the player of the match as he scored 59 runs, which included six boundaries and one massive six. Bangladesh has started the Asia Cup 2025 on a positive note. At the same time, things don’t look that impressive for Hong Kong as they have lost both of their Asia Cup 2025 matches. Now their Super-Four qualification chances are almost impossible, as the net run rate is also -2.889.
